May 8, 2018 What: Pre-Spawn Spring Crappie Fishing. Location: Eastern Nebraska Conditions: Mostly sunny and warm, 85 degrees.  Northwest wind 10-15mph.  Water Temp: 70-72 degrees.     <iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/HjaKIem6MyU” frameborder=”0″ allow=”autoplay; encrypted-media” allowfullscreen></iframe> The spring crappie bite is heating up in much of the midwest as our water temperature is approaching that 70-75 degree mark.  Targeting crappies when they get into their pre-spawn and spawning patters is very successful as the fish are often very aggressive.  During the pre-spawn period, when the water temperature is around 68-72 degrees, the crappies are often times found in very large schools, cruising shallow water, and

May 7, 2018 – Nebraska Morel Mushrooms

May 7, 2018 What: Morel Mushroom Hunt Location: Madison County, Nebraska along the Elkhorn River. Conditions: Sunny and warm, 80 degrees. After giving some of my spots a day to warm up, things are headed in the right direction.  Multiple trees that have established themselves as reliable over the last few years are now growing fresh morel mushrooms.  This was not the case two days ago on my last mushroom hunt.  Most of the morels we found today were very small, pinky nail sized and left to grow.  We were able to walk away with enough for the frying pan which is a success
